The present drawing can be compared to two drawings in the Paul Mellon Collection (see A. Wilton, The Art of Alexander and John Robert Cozens, New Haven, 1980, no. 8, pl. 4 and no. 9, pl. 5).
These two drawings, dated between 1750 and 1755 have a similar dry application of the black ink in the trees and a rapid handling of the landscape detail.
