Lot Essay

These cups with centaur-borne bacchus and cupid are replicas of the Pompian bronze 'Centaur' cups in the Museum at Naples, and feature in the l9l0 catalogue of the Neapolitan Fonderie Artische Riunite of J. Chiurazzi & Fils and X. De Angelis & Fils. p.285 nos. 25377 and 25376. The firm received awards at various late nineteenth century International exhibitions and their work has been exhibited in museums throughout the world.
