Each of campana shape, with an egg-and-dart moulded overhanging rim, above the waisted body with ivy, the gadrooned lower half flanked to each side by a loop-and-druid mask handle, on a circular spreading fluted socle, on square base inscribed J. GILMOUR & CO BONNYTON KILMARNOCK

Lot Essay

John Gilmour & Company, a fireclay company based at Kilmarnock, owned the Hillhead Fireclay Works from 1858 to 1867, as well as Bonnyton Fireclay Works prior to 1882 up to the 1930's.
