A Belgian brass striking table clock with alarm
Baw Lion Namur; fourth quarter 18th century
The case on cabriole hoof feet supporting the rectangular case with hinged glazed sides with typical red painted interior, the solid rear door dated in ink 1793 on the inside, the brass dial decorated with foliate pierced and chased scroll mounts to the top and bottom and signed BawLion Namur above the dial, engraved spandrels, glazed brass bezel to the white enamel Roman and Arabic chapter disc with foliate cast and pierced brass hands and central alarm disc, the four pillar movement with twin going barrels (strike barrel lacking the click), original verge escapement, the alarm train present but lacking the hammer, the strike train striking on a bell flanked by four turned brass finials
