A Victorian gilt-metal small carriage timepiece

The case on faceted toupie feet supporting fluted -columns enclosing gilt engine turned panels to the front and sides, spring-loaded catch to the rear door, the circular silvered Roman dial engraved with a Chinoiserie scene to the centre, recessed subsidiary seconds below XII and blued moon hands, the four pillar single chain fusee movement with McCabe's underslung platform lever escapement with three-arm steel balance, the gilt back-plate with hand-set knob, blued steel screws and signed Jas. Mc.Cabe, Royal Exchange London. No. 1747
