A George III ebonised small striking bracket clock
Coleman, London; fourth quarter 18th century
The gilt-brass-lined case with handle to triple-pad breakarch top, fish scale pierced sound frets to the sides, the brass-bound case on bracket feet, the gilt dial with white enamel Roman and Arabic chapter disc with gilt beetle-and-poker hands, foliate spandrels, strike/silent disc in the arch (later hand), the movement with shouldered plates and five pillars with twin chain fusees and original verge escapement, the winding squares positioned on the foliate engraved backplate signed John Coleman London within a foliate cartouche
