MOUTON-ROTHCHILD AND CHEVAL-BLANC OF THE EXCELLENT 1949 VINTAGE
Recently removed from an excellent country house cellar and now lying London, S.E.1
Chteau Mouton-Rothschild--Vintage 1949
Pauillac, 1er cru class. Chteau-bottled
Bin-soiled labels, some with slight tears. Levels: two very top, two top, two upper, three mid/upper and three mid-shoulder
Tasting note: a supremely beautiful wine from start to finish. Very deep, rich, intense colour with good mature rim; an archetypal Mouton nose, immediately forthcoming, sweet, spicy, exquisite, developing a richly unusual scent of tea and rose leaves. Touch of sweetness, by no means a heavyweight, combining softness, delicacy, charm and a certain femininity. M.B.
