Lot Essay

The table's Egyptian reeded legs, terminating in bacchic lion-paws, feature on an 1804 pattern for a sideboard-table published in George Smith's, Collection of Designs for Household Furniture and Interior Decoration, 1808, pl. 92. This pattern also appears on a pair of Regency sideboard tables at Erddigg, Clwyd (see O. Garnett, Erddig, 1995, p.46).
