Each similarly decorated in iron-red, blue, green, yellow and black enamels, seated upright on a rectangular base with arabesque design, a bell tied around its neck, its left paw resting on an embroidered ball, some restoration

A similar example in the Drayton House Collection is illustrated in Mark Hinton and Oliver Impey, Flowers of Fire: Kakiemon Porcelain from the English Country House (London, 1989), pl. 24. A pair in the Residenzmuseum in Munich, mounted in French ormolu formed as candelabra, is illustrated in Oriental Ceramic Society, Porcelain for Palaces: The Fashion for Japan in Europe, 1650-1750 (London,1990), pl.146.
