Oval, the mokume plate with a mantis and foliage in yo-sukashi, signed Miochin Minbu Kii Munesada saku, Bushu Akasaka ju Tadatoki saku, 7.5cm; broad oval, chiselled with a hexagonal pattern overall, signed Yasuchika, Miochin school, 7.4cm; oval shibuichi plate, a howling dog in yo-sukashi, the upper part chiselled with a poem, signed Jitokusai Fujiwara Tomonori saku, 5.7cm; oval, inlaid with a courtier, silver and gilt details, signed Hironao and kao, 6.4cm; rounded square, formed as seashells within the rim, gilt nunome details, 6.7cm; round, mon in yo-sukashi forming the rim, 7cm; oval, a peasant before Mount Fuji, gilt details, 6.7cm; oval, a garden scene in yo-sukashi before Mount Fuji, 6.9cm; oval, a teahouse and foliage in sukashi, 7cm and an oval tsuba with irregular piercings, 7.3cm., all 17th-19th century (10)

Lot Essay

It would appear that the plate of the first tsuba was made by Munesada and Tadatoki carved the design.
