George L. Seymour, a London painter who often turned to Oriental subject matter for inspiration, here depicts a young hunter bedecked with the tools and rewards of his trade - gunbelt, decorated powder flask, grouse - as well as, tucked into his belt, a ubuk, or pipe (see lot 27).
