Paris, 1776/1777, with the charge and discharge marks of Jean-Baptiste Fouache 1775-1781, maker's mark rubbed, the flange struck with inventory number 32, the enamel miniature later
Elongated oval box, the cover, four side and base panels coated with dark blue translucent enamel encrusted with a peacock feather pattern formed by red, green and gold paillons, the cover applied with an oval enamel miniature depicting a young lady accompanied by Zephyr and a dog at an Altar of Love, within a translucent green leaf-border on a matted gold band, the four side divider pilasters decorated with stylized urns in opaque white enamel hung with translucent green enamel floral swags on a matted ground, the borders stamped and enamelled in translucent green with a stylized acanthus garland on a matted band
