workshop of James Cox, London, circa 1770/1780, the watch movement signed 'Jas Inwood 4040 LONDON'
Rectangular casket resting on four crouching ormolu feet cast as yelping dragons, the cover, base and sides set with red underlaid semi-translucent grey striated agate panels framed by a gold cagework embossed with rocaille, the centres of the cageworks adorned with Cupid on the cover, a dog and a shepherd on the front side, a goat standing by a column on the rear side and columns on the left and right hand sides, the inside of the cover fitted with a watch, the base of the casket centred with a circular aperture lined with gold-embroidered red velvet to protect the watch, with a mirror in the base, surrounded by several implements including two quizzing glasses, a detachable brush, an ear-spoon, a watch key, a spy glass and four glass bottles with caps
