A Cottage with a White Paling
etching with drypoint, 1652, presumably third (final) state, a fairly good impression of this relatively rare print, with the indistinct pendant initials of a Coat of Arms watermark, trimmed just into the subject on three sides, and cut approximately 24mm. into the blank area at the top, a made-up strip along the lower edge of subject, removing all traces of the date added in the third state, the area of tall reeds to the extreme left of the subject also made up and touched-in with pen and ink additions, other minor defects
