Christ carrying the Cross
engraving, circa 1475-80, a good, strong, but slightly later impression of this rare print, watermark High Crown, trimmed to or just within the platemark at the left and bottom, and into the subject at top and left with skilfully made-up strips at the edges, the usual central vertical fold, a long repaired tear extending from the lower left edge to the shoulder of the seated rider at left, and from the top to the left elbow of Christ, two small Japan-backed tears at the right and lower sheet edges, a few small nicks and splits at the right and bottom, some pale staining, other defects
