The cylidrical body with spreading base, cut with star decoration, with beaded lower mount and bracket handle chased with vines, the neck mount chased with grotesque male masks and with short spout similarly chased, with hinged flat-topped cover, the thumbpiece formed as a rampant lion supporting the badge of the Coldstream Guards, the glass body engraved with the badge of the Coldstream Guards, the cover engraved with a presentation inscription, marked on neck mount and cover

Lot Essay

Lieutenant-Colonel Hasker had joined the Coldstream Guards as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1844. He had been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel by 1856, a rank he held until his retirement at the age of 68. He served during the Crimean War as Assistant Engineer and Instructor of Musketry to the Turkish contingent.
