Michel Cresson, matre in 1740.
Michel Cresson (1709 - 1781) was the youngest son of Jean Cresson who was a menuisier during the first half of the 18th Century. Michel was established in the rue de Clry 'Au Gros Chapelet', and his production of Louis XV seat furniture compares closely to that of his brother Louis. As his brother, Michel is recorded supplying seat furniture to the Prince de Cond for the Palais-Bourbon and for Chantilly.
A pair of related fauteuils stamped Louis Cresson was sold anonymously at Ader Tajan, Paris, 28 September 1993, lot 146, while another related suite of seat furniture by Michel Cresson was sold anonymously at Sotheby's Monaco, 3 December 1994, lot 264.
