Mid-18th Century, probably Marche
Each with a cartouche-shaped back and drop-in seat covered in floral velvet, the frame carved overall with entrelac, the arched toprail centred by an oval medallion with pearled border and centred by confronting cranes drinking in a fountain, the seat-rail centred by a star within a laurel-wreath medallion flanked by foliage, on cabriole legs headed by husks and terminating in up-swept foliate scrolls, each front seat-rail inscribed in black ink '825 BEH' and '829 BEH', respectively, the underside of the seats inscribed 'BEH/826/250.00' and '827/BEH/250' respectively, regilt
