Franois Ignace Papst, matre in 1785.

A Louis XVI secrtaire abattant made en suite to this commode is illustrated in P. Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Franais du XVIIIe sicle, Paris, 1989, p. 633, ill. A.

Interestingly the 1963 sale catalogue suggests that the cypher of the escutcheons of this commode are probably that of Madame Dubarry.
