A study for The Mystic Marriage of Saint Catherine now in the Cassa di Risparmi e Depositi, Prato, M.C. Fabbri, op. cit., no. 1.230. The picture was executed for Vittoria della Rovere (1622-1694) and described by Baldinucci as 'quadro di quattro braccia, dello sposalizio di Santa Caterina, con alcuni putti in aria, che spargono fiori, ed uno che tiene in mano una ghirlanda per incoronare la Vergine'. It was painted according to M.C. Fabbri in the 1650s, and to Charles McCorquodale in the 1680s. Baldinucci also mentions another compostion of the same subject painted for Mattias Maria Bartolommei. This might correspond to the picture sold in these Rooms 15 June 1977, lot 77.
A pen study for the whole composition is in the Albertina, Vienna (Inv. 23924) and a sketch is in the Uffizi (Inv. 3204S). A drawing of the three main figures was in the 1980 sale, lot 56.
