A study for the sleeping nymph on the overdoor painted for the Htel de Roquelaure, now the Ministre de l'Equipement, Paris, I. Julia in Charles-Joseph Natoire, exhib. cat., Muse des Beaux-Arts, Troyes and elsewhere, 1977, p. 114, illustrated. The two overdoors were commissioned by Marchal Antoine-Gaton de Roquelaure (1656-1738) for his new house built by Lassurance and Jean-Baptiste Leroux in rue Saint Dominique, Paris. The building was finished in 1726 and the interior decoration was done in two phases, the first just after the construction and the second in 1733-4. The two overdoors were inserted into the panelling by Nicolas Pineau.
