For the nymph holding the infant Adonis in The birth of Adonis datable to 1730, A. Ananoff, Franois Boucher, Lausanne and Paris, 1976, no. 38, illustrated. The picture along with its pendant representing The death of Adonis were in the La Live de Jully sale in 1770.
Similar in handling to another early drawing of a head exhibited in the National Gallery of Art, Washington, Franois Boucher in North American Collections: 100 Drawings, 1974, no. 1.
