A GEORGE IV ORMOLU AND CUT-GLASS SIX-LIGHT COLZA-OIL CHANDELIER
The circular lozenge-cut dish with sphere and scrolled-leaf finial, anthemion-mounted border and turned arms and pierced drip-pans with later glass shades, issuing from a turned urn reservoir with vine-draped Bacchic ram-masks and berried finial, with triple-chain suspension and anthemion-mounted corona, regilt
50 in. (127 cm.) high; 30 in. (77.5 cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

A similar large colza-oil chandelier, with suspending droplets from the anthemion corona, is illustrated in J. Bourne and V. Brett, Lighting in the Domestic Interior, London, 1991, p. 134, fig. 453. Another similar colza-oil light was sold in the Michael Liptich sale, Sotheby's London, 22 May 1998, lot 118.
