The overall shape of this table is remarkably similar to a 'breakfast-table', now attributed to Thomas Potter, with sliding top enclosing a rising tray. The Potter table was sold anonymously, in these Rooms, 16 July 1992, lot 133 and is now owned by the Leeds City Art Galleries (illustrated in C. Gilbert and T. Murdoch, John Channon and brass-inlaid furniture 1730-1760, London, 1993, p. 84, fig. 88 and C. Gilbert (ed.), Furniture at Temple Newsam House and Lotherton Hall, Leeds, vol. III, 1998, p. 661, cat. no. 828).
