A GERMAN BRASS AND SILVER MINUTE DIAL
18th Century, signed on the hour ring 'Got; Weiss'
Further engraved with scrolling strapwork decoration, the hour scale divided I-XII (x2), the minute dial geared to the outer rims, the limb mounted with gilded brass calendar quadrant engraved on one side with zodiac scale, the other with month scale sub-divided into 20-minute divisions, the silver alidade with two pin-hole sights, the hour ring with hinge support and folding arm on the underside, set so as to read against the latitude scale on the base plate engraved with scale 30-60, one side further engraved 'Elvatio equatoris' and on the other side 'elevatio Polis', the gilded brass base plate with folding plummet support, one fixed and two levelling screws, and further engraved with rococo decoration
