The cover with nocturnal, the centre of the volvelle engraved with the Great Bear and another astronomical illustration, the outer rim punched with an hour scale 3-12-9, each numeral with corresponding gilded identification bead, the arm stamped REGVLA HORE NOCTIS, the outer calendar scale stamped with the months of the year and calendar scale divided 30/31 days, finely decorated with strapwork and hinging to reveal on the inside a lunar scale, the volvelle rotating against a calendar scale, the outer rim stamped with the compass points, similarly decorated with strapwork, the main body of the instrument with a compass, adjustable hour dial, folding universal equinoctial ring dial (gnomon missing), the compass with finely modelled blued-iron needle with brass cap, the interior further engraved with repeating strapwork decoration, the lower cover engraved on the inside with a solar dial and on the base a rojas projection with alidade, with three protective feet and further strapwork decoration, with suspension loop and ring
