A Pair Of 28-Bore Dutch Silver-Mounted Percussion Pistols With Left- And Right-Hand Locks

Converted from flintlock, with two-stage twist barrels, silver fore-sights, engraved tangs, signed rounded locks each with raised border, moulded figured walnut full stocks (minor defects) each carved in relief behind the barrel tang and rear ramrod-pipe and inlaid with silver wire on the butt, full silver mounts engraved with flowers, foliage, and trophies of arms, spurred pommels each with oval cap cast and chased with a Classical trophy of arms in relief, silver escutcheons engraved with a crest, a helm surmounted by a star, and original horn-tipped ramrods, one with worm (some wear throughout)

Lot Essay

Lambertus Michaalis Thone, recorded 1781-1810, originally from Lige, became a citizen of Amsterdam in 1781, and worked with his son from about 1800 (Thone & Zoon).
