A Rare 12-Bore Italian Matchlock Barrel
15th/16th Century
In three stages, the muzzle issuing from a monster-head in high relief, the remaining surfaces cut with a basketwork pattern in low relief (some wear), now mounted on a later gun with associated tube-lock of Console type with incomplete cock, moulded walnut three-quarter stock (damaged and partly replaced), iron mounts including later side-plate, and associated ramrod (broken)
