The first signed Meredith & Moxham, London, all 19th Century
The first with reblued turn-off barrel, signed action engraved with a martial trophy on each side, rollers, engraved thumbpiece safety-catch also locking the steel, folding trigger, figured flat-sided walnut butt, and vacant silver escutcheon, Birmingham proof marks; the second with tapering double-edged blade etched and gilt with scrolls of foliage against a blued ground, hilt with gilt-brass mounts, turned ivory grip (cracked), and original brass scabbard retaining some gilding; the last with engraved white metal hilt and ivory grip-scales, in leather-covered scabbard with embossed brass mounts
