ROB DE LA RIVE BOX 1933 - 1998 Rob de la Rive Box was born and brought up in Bussum, Holland. After finishing his school education he studied at the Automobile Technical School at Driebergen, and following graduation was employed with the Ford Motor Co., first in Helsinki and then Amsterdam. He moved to Switzerland in 1961, where he has stayed ever since, working then as a Client Consultant on car sales. However, he had always harboured an interest in high-performance cars and gradually became involved in the trading of exclusive cars such as Bugatti, Mercedes, Ferrari,Lamborghini and Maserati; his sucesses in this field confirming his decision to follow his passion and move away from the modern motoring business. In 1972 he started writing, producing books and articles for specialized journals. He is principally renowned for his definitive and authoritative works on Maseratis, co-written with Richard Crump; editions on other exotic marques followed steadily as a result, since when he was researched and written many marque histories and other general-interest books. In 1993 he was appointed chief editor of "Auto Exclusive" moving to "Auto Illustrierten" two years later, and until his untimely death last year. A popular figure in the motoring fraternity, he counted most of his friends in this field. He retained extensive knowledge on all aspects of automobiles, whilst the archive he has left provides a vast reservoir of information for the motoring historian. On July 7th 1998 he suffered a heart attack and passed away, leaving a quantity of work part-researched and another book ready for publishing. We are both saddened and yet privileged to offer for sale this library and archive as a testament to his life's work.
