With nickel-finished lever movement, 23 jewels, bimetallic compensation balance, micrometer regulator, the silvered matt dial with applied Arabic numerals, outer tachymetric scale, two windows for day and month, three subsidiary dials indicating constant seconds, 30 minutes register and phases of the moon combined with date, the circular heavy case with snap on back (No. 641823 Ref. 1518), downturned lugs, two square chronograph buttons in the band, together with an 18K gold Patek Philippe buckle, case, dial and movement signed
35 mm. diam.

Lot Essay

Patek Philippe confirm production of this watch in 1945 and subsequent sale on 10 September 1947.

Patek Philippe produced only 281 examples of this model with reference number 1518 from 1941 to 1954.

The reference number 1518 was produced in four series. This particular watch is from the first series which was made as of 1941 with applied gold Arabic numerals. The second series, with enamelled hour indexes and the 12 in applied gold Arabic numerals, was presented at the Basle Fair in 1942. The third series was made with applied gold indexes, the 12 again in applied gold Arabic numerals and the fourth series with applied gold baton indexes.
