Lot Essay

Pierra Ozanne was the brother and pupil of Nicolas-Marie Ozanne, a draghtsman for the French Navy from 1769. He succeeded his brother as draughtsman for the Navy in 1811. Well known for his marine engravings, in 1778 he produced a series of seventy-eight drawings of figurehead and stern designs. In 1798 Ozanne engraved and published twenty-four plates from the originals. It is a set of which is offered in the above lot
