A planked and rigged model of the 102 gun flagship Sovereign of the Seas (1637)
with bound masts, yards, standing and running rigging, horse and rider figurehead, anchors with bound wooden stocks, catheads, bitts, belaying rails and pins, companionways, hatches, gratings, bell with canopy over, capstan, bilge pumpe, balustrading, stern lantern, upper and main deck guns and other details. The hull, with very extensive 'gilded' decoration, tourelles and stern detailing is finished in natural wood and blue, stand and glazed case. Measurements overall -- 37 x 46in. (81 x 117cm.)
