SOUTH AFRICA TEST XI, 1935. An autograph book, small oblong 4, with gift inscription dated May 22 1930, containing signatures of 14 members of the South African touring side 1935 on one sheet, also including the following county sides, some dated 1935, the rest undated, but presumably all acquired in the same season: Kent (11 signatures), Leicestershire (11 signatures), Northamptonshire (10 signatures), Glamorgan (7 signatures, most in pencil), Lancashire (6 signatures), Yorshire (12 signatures), Hampshire (11 signatures), Warwickshire (12 signatures), Somerset (11 signatures), Sussex (12 signatures), Warwickshire (9 signatures). It was Herby Wade (1905-80) who led the South Africans to victory at Lord's in 1935, their first ever win in a Test on English soil. Their wicket-keeper 'Jock' Cameron (1905-35) caught the public imagination in the same Test with his powerfully hit 90 out of 126 in 105 minutes, but died of enteric figure shortly after his return home.
