The estates of Brabant strongly opposed the reforms of the Emperor Joseph II especially the Edict of Toleration and his attempts to deal with clerical abuses. On the 27th December 1789 the Estates declared their independance under the influence of Vandernoot
This rare fan is not in the Schreiber collection.
Another printed fan on the revolution Brabanconne was lent by Mme. Pigeolet-Evenepoel to the Exposition National de 1880 in Brussels as item 296
