An English carved and gilded Kentian frame, 18th Century,
eared, with carved, peirced and applied cresting to the top consisting of a central scallop-shell flanked by scrolling foliage; carved and applied bell-flowers to the sides, terminating in scrolled volutes; the main section of the frame with taenia to the outer edge; ovolo with acanthus to the corners, running egg-and-foliage to the sides; rope-twist course; fascia with detailed acanthus to the corners and Greek key to the sides; gadrooning; sight edge -- 29.3/8 x 24 x circa 5in. (74.6 x 61.6 x circa 12.7cm.)
