[but 1879]. Thanking him for letting him "lie in your churchyard...in a village and not in a London cemetry". Discussing a very dear ailing friend.

One-page printed letter signed ("W.Cobbett"), to an unnamed gentleman, from London, 4, 25 February 1820. Requesting a donation of (700 to assist in his campaign as Candidate for the City of Coventry.

With a quantity of other letters of similar poetical or literary interest including two cut signatures ("Charles Dickens") and ("Yours truly ever C L Dodgson").

Lot Essay

Charles Reade died on 11 April 1884 and was buried in Willesden Churchyard beside his great friend Laura Seymour who died on 27 September 1879.
