Lot Essay

The presentation of the New Colours to the Parachute Regiment by Her Majesty the Queen took place at Rushmore Arena, Aldershot on 15 July 1974. Howard was commissioned to paint a large (36 x 54in.) painting for the ceremony. The finished work, for which this is a study, was the subject of an article he published in The Artist.
