The case with floral marquetry inlay to the swan-neck hood, outset rectangular columns inlaid with a bamboo design, the cross-banded tracery arch trunk door within a moulded frame and flanked by line inlaid mock pilasters resting on blocks inlaid with urns issuing leafy sprigs, on plinth with chamfered angles and inlaid with connecting roundels, on bracket feet (damages and losses), the white dial with painted rolling moon in the arch, strawberry spandrels, signed on the chapter ring JNO. BANKS OLDHAM (re-touched), with subsidiary seconds and date rings to the centre also painted with flowers, cut steel hands, the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement and falseplate to dial
