An 18th-Century German brass universal equinoctial ring dial,
unsigned, the equinoctial ring engraved on one side with a I-XII (x2) hour scale, the other side with the names and latitudes of: Aug purg - 48; Nremberg - 49; Haidelberg - 49; Offen - 47; Maintz - 50; Trier - 50; Wien - 48; Prag - 50; Saltzburg - 48; Krembs - 48; and Stras sburg - 48 - the meridian ring engraved with 0-90 scale and on one side with the names and latitudes of: Amb terdam - 52; Franckfurt M - 50; Antorff - 51; Roma - 42; Cln - 51; Br ell - 51; Ach - 51; and Frankfurt 0-52, the other side with Regen purg - 49; Koppenhagen - 56; Lbeck - 55; Lenneburg - 54; Magdenburg - 52; Hall - 51; Hamburg - 54; Dantzig - 55; Leipzig - 51; Mnchen - 48; Ulm - 48; and Rab - 4(?), the bridge with sliding pin-hole sight, calendar and zodiac scales, the terminals engraved with foliage, the suspension loop with swivel and ring clamp -- 3.1/8in. (8cm.) dia.
