A rare 19th-Century Cary-type compound monocular microscope,
signed on the rectangular cross-section pillar Cary, LONDON, the body-tube located on an arm with friction clamp, the stage with rack and pinion adjustment incorporating slide clamps, and fitted with a bull's-eye condenser mounted on an articulated arm, and a specimen probe and forceps mounted on a support with compass joint, the lower section of the pillar with concave mirror, mounted on a compass joint and arranged so as to locate in the back end of the mahogany case, with sliding cover and front, arranged to store the complete and extensive range of accessories, including a lieberkuhn, live box, forceps, four numbered objectives, glass and other sliders, a quantity of slide making accessories and other items, the mahogany case with swing brass carrying handle -- 6.5/8in. (16.8cm.) wide
