Lot Essay

The baby plate and octagonal plate, examples of which are included in this lot, were the first pieces of Mickey Mouse Nursery Ware produced by Wade in 1934, they were originally part of a set which also included a mug and a saucer in a presentation box. Due to the popularity of this set, in 1935 Wade began to produce other sets of Nursery Ware consisting of eight, ten and sixteen pieces, all originally in presentation boxes. The presentation boxes rarely survive.
