Lot Essay

The author, a mathematician and physician, was of Syrian parentage, born in AH 808/1405-6 AD in Cairo where he also died. He is also known as Nur al-Din Sayyid al-Faradi. This is a complete, dated copy made during the lifetime of the author; an incomplete copy of the work dated AH 865 is in Cairo, and a complete 10th century copy is in the Yasuda collection in the library of Princeton University.
