A FINE INDIAN STABBING DAGGER (KATAR) AND SHEATH
MUGHAL OR DECCANI, FIRST HALF 18TH CENTURY
Of typical form with tapering double-edged blade and double grip, the watered steel blade with twinned grooves, the outline inset with a gold line, a similar palmette at the apex, the entire handle very finely inlaid with gold leaving reserved bands of meandering iris plants within minor floral borders, negligible corrosion on blade and minute loss of gold on one terminal, otherwise excellent condition, the red velvet covered sheath with a silver chape chased with floral sprays
