A 'VASE PARLANTE' GLASS VASE
BY GALL, CIRCA 1900
the globular base of square section with slender tapering neck and gently swollen rim, the green glass internally streaked with blue and overlaid in brown, acid-etched and carved with flowerheads and verse 'Bni soit le coin sombre ou s'ioslent nos coeurs, Marceline Valmore', the whole firepolished, moulded mark Gall (slight polishing) -- 31cm. high

Lot Essay

Along with Victor Hugo, Robert de Montesquiou, Maurice Maeterlink, Marceline Desbordes-Valmore was one of Gall's favourite writers and poets for his 'verreries parlantes' (speaking vases).
