A 3-inch (7.6cm.) diameter terrestrial pocket globe made up of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores and one polar calotte, the equator graduated in degrees and hours in two directions, the anti-meridian graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days and showing symbols for the houses of the Zodiac, the oceans with a compass in the South Atlantic, trade winds and numerous tracks of exploratory voyages such as Cn. King's Return 1780, Endeavour Tract, Anfon's going out and Here C. Cook was killed 14 feby 1779 by the Sandwich Islands, with further notes such as Variable Winds, Fields of Ice and Enderbys Land 1833, the continents delicately hand-outlined in orange, green and red with various details including mountains, rivers and the Great Wall of China, central Russia labelled Independent Tartary, South Africa labelled COUNTRY of the CAFRES and Country of the Hottentots, North America labelled New N. Wales, New S. Wales and New France (new varnish), with iron axis pins (repaired) contained in spherical fish-skin covered case with three brass hooks and eyes, the rim painted red (cracked, one hook missing), the interior laid with two sets of twelve hand-cloured engraved celestial gores, the equatorial graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days and showing symbols for the houses of the Zodiac, the constellations depicted by mythical beasts and characters and instruments, the Milky Way and ecliptic coloured yellow, the rest in green new varnish, some surface marks)
