A 13-inch (33cm.) diameter terrestrial table globe made up of twelve coloured printed paper gores and two polar calottes, the prime meridian and equator graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days but unlabelled, the oceans showing ocean currents, steamship routes and cable lines and various depths, the continents with nation states outlined in various colours according to national possession and showing rivers, mountain ranges, projected and completed railway lines, towns, cities and other information (numerous scratches, abrasions and areas of discolouration, several pinholes to Europe) with brass finial, raised on ebonised wire support and turned ebonised column and plinth base -- 22in. (55.9cm.) high

The date of manufacture of this globe can be judged to be between Congo's becoming an independent state in 1885, and 1890 when Madagascar came under French control.
