A 12-inch (30.5cm.) diameter terrestrial table globe made up of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores and two polar calottes, the equator graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days and showing symbols for the houses of the Zodiac, the oceans with AN IMPROVED ANALEMMA and showing the tracks of numerous explorers such as Cook, Clerke and Gore, with numerous dates and notes, the continents with some nation states delicately outlined in green, red or blue and showing a wealth of political and physical detail (some small old abrasions, some neat redrawing), with engraved brass meridian circle divided in four quadrants, the engraved paper horizon Published 1st. Jany. 1852 by NEWTON & SON, 66, Chancery Lane and 3, Fleet St. Temple Bar., graduated in degrees in two directions and in days of the month and of the houses of the Zodiac, with compass directions, annotations for variance between clock and sun and a star chart for the Sun's apparent Path with some stars named and details of solstices and equinoxes, the rim painted red, raised on three baluster turned fruitwood legs united by cross stretchers -- 18in.
