PHILIP'S EDUCATIONAL TERRESTRIAL GLOBE BY J. BARTHOLOMEW, F.R.G.S. LONDON GEORGE PHILIP & SON, 32 FLEET STREET [c.1885]
A 9-inch (22.9cm.) diameter terrestrial table globe made up of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores and two polar calottes, the equator graduated in degrees and hours, the Greenwich meridian graduated in degrees, the ecliptic unshown, the lines of the Tropics strongly coloured in red, the Polar circles strongly coloured in black, the continents with nation states delicately outlined in green, orange and yellow according to national possession and showing rivers, mountains, towns and cities, the Antarctic with partial coastline (some discolouration beneath varnish, some neat redrawing) the stamped brass meridian circle graduated 60-90-0-90 (repaired), raised on an elegant baluster turned fruitwood column and partially ebonised circular base -- 16in. (41.3cm.) high
