SOUTH EAST TURKMENISTAN, CIRCA 1880
The aubergine brown field with an overall polychrome angular palmette and serated leaf vine around a central octagon lozenge containing polychrome bands of hooked flowerhead vine around a brick-red clover- leaf centrepiece, a similar smaller lozenge in each corner, in a brick- red linked and hooked lozenge border between brick-red bold linked lozenges containing hooked motifs and narrow angular stylised tulip stripes, outer golden yellow flowerhead, hooked panel, together with a polychrome lozenge and zigzag stripes, some areas of wear and repair with repaired crease lines, slight loss at each end
